Utility Systems Repairer-Operator

The incumbent for this position will perform daily water and wastewater system checks, monitor water usage, turbidities and chlorine usage. Additionally, they will inspect and perform routine and preventative maintenance on water and wastewater systems. They are to obtain weekly and by-weekly bacteriological samples, while also maintaining accurate logs, records and reports. Incumbent is to identify and use plumbing materials such as ductile iron, cast iron, PVC, plastic, steel and ABS. They will independently create material lists and cost estimates for facilities projects. The incumbent will also work with equipment maintenance materials such as filters, lubricants, degreasers, spark plugs, seals, belts and bearings. They are to maintain operations and maintenance records via computer:
Spreadsheets and specialized water and wastewater programs. They must have the ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel to draft documents, standard operating procedures (SOP) and develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases. They are to use and maintain plumbing tools such as:
Gas torches, pipe threading machines, reamers, tubing cutters, sewer augers, and sewer snakes; and use / maintain electric power tools such as:
Electric drills, circular saws, cutoff saws, chain saws, sanders, grinders, air compressors, and jack hammers. May be expected to perform other duties park-wide. Ability to perform the duties of a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator without more than normal supervision (Screen Out),. Experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment facility, a wastewater treatment facility or a major utility system related to water and wastewater production and treatment. Must possess a state of California Water Treatment Grade 2, California Water Distribution Grade 2, and have a CA Grade 3 Waste water certificate OR have passed the CA Wastewater Treatment Grade 3 test and possess an Operator in Training or equivalent licenses from another state which meet the reciprocity conditions (see this link for those conditions:
