This position is located in the Ash Mountain area of Sequoia National Park and is both a challenging and rewarding job. As a uniformed employee, incumbent serves as a frontline ambassador of the National Park Service. The incumbent supervises and manages all aspects of the day-to-day operations and employees of the Ash Mountain entrance station, three campgrounds in the Ash Mountain area (two of which are on the advanced reservation system - 68 campsites), as well as 2 honor system campgrounds in the Mineral King area. This position manages operations according to revenue and visitation analysis, as well as in accordance to established federal, NPS, and park policies and guidelines. The incumbent ensures that staff is knowledgeable in general park information and well-trained on all fee program operations, guidelines, goals and objectives. This position promotes teamwork and equal opportunity in the workplace. Incumbent ensures strict and appropriate accountability and accuracy for fee collection, use of online reservation system for campground management, and effective use of the park point-of-sale register software program, and is expected to maintain and troubleshoot computer and software problems, credit card machines, and online reservation information. Incumbent is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of all employees within Ash Mountain Entrance Station and Foothills Campgrounds. Incumbent will recruit, train and lead campground hosts. Incumbent is responsible for the on-the-job safety of all employees and volunteers managed, conforming to established Park and Agency Safety Programs to satisfy this responsibility. Communication and teamwork with co-workers and supervisor are the hallmark in Revenue and Fee Management operations. This position requires working with a large variety of individuals of varying cultures, ages, abilities, personalities, and needs. Courtesy and customer service is always the priority. The selectee will work as part of an interdependent Fee and Revenue Team to incorporate innovative collection methods; ensure internal controls are established and followed; and assure overall goals are achieved in the program. Duties in entrance stations and park campgrounds are in a fast-paced environment. Standing and/or sitting is usually required for long periods of time. Twisting, reaching, repetitive physical movements, and lifting are daily components of this position. On the job safety is always a priority. Mental stress and physical fatigue may occur due to high volume of personal contacts. Driving a government vehicle to monitor and actively participate in campground and entrance station operations is a common day-to-day task. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
hiring, supervising, scheduling and managing others involved in fee collection and visitor orientation programs; compiling and analyzing information to report; handling, tracking and depositing monies; using software programs to maintain fee and stock data; resolving issues that arise in the remittance process and assisting staff with fee issues; and using tools and equipment (cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position business, education, and finance. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. IMPORTANT NOTE:

One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
