Manage the day-to-day National Park Service interpretive operations in the Sequoia District. Provide guidance and constructive feedback to staff in their development and delivery of interpretive programs special exhibits, outreach programs, and events that use current interpretive competencies and techniques. Deliver a variety of interpretive programs to diverse visitors including special tours for officials and dignitaries. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and mentoring new staff as well as establishing performance standards and resolving personnel issues related to performance, conduct Equal Employment Opportunity concerns, and interpersonal conflicts. Provide clear direction and vision to staff and ensure programs and projects are completed timely. Develop annual work plans, reports and collect statistical data. Plan annual budgets, track spending and make purchases. Communicate clearly, maintain positive and dynamic cooperative working relationships with multiple park divisions, park partners, concessions, contractors, and outside groups. Manage the Sequoia Transportation program. Serves as Acting Chief of Interpretation, Education and Partnerships on a regular rotational basis (2 months) when chief is absent. Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following:
(1)coordinating, managing or directing interpretive or education programs;(2) researching, developing and presenting a wide variety of natural resources or cultural history interpretive programs; (3) providing leadership, guidance and direction to paid and volunteer staff; (4) developing long range program plans; and (5) planning and implementing special events, projects or programs. -OR- EDUCATION:
Have three full years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree at an accredited college or university in directly-related fields such as natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archaeology, anthropology, park and recreation management; law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, or sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resource. Course work in fields other than those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in the position to be filled. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours or equivalent earned towards a graduate degree, in excess of 36 semester hours, and divide by 18 semester hours or equivalent. Then, take the number of months of experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
