Senior Visitor Use Assistant

As a uniformed employee, incumbent serves as a frontline representative of the National Park Service. This position is located in the Ash Mountain area of Sequoia National Park. Incumbent primarily works in the campground operation, campground kiosk or office and may work in the other areas of the park and/or in entrance stations based on operational need. Responsibilities include:
Operating two advanced reservation campgrounds managing reservations and notifications of arrival, collecting recreation fees in an appropriate, accountable, accurate and equitable manner following established guidelines for handling government funds. Operates an electronic cash register. Performs opening and closing shift functions, reconciles funds using associated math and problem solving skills. Reconciles daily shift revenue from other cashiers for remittance and deposit reports using a point of sale software system database. Troubleshoots discrepancies and insures sufficient documentation for all transactions and discrepancies are provided for audit tracking purposes. All duties are completed in accordance to established regulations, policies and guidelines. Visitor management related services such as traffic control, utilizing park radio system, performing radio notification of emergency situations and handling emergencies until arrival of proper authorities. Professionalism, courtesy and quality customer service and safety are always the priority. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Senior Visitor Use Assistant. My specialized experience includes providing information or assistance to the public in a business or recreation setting; instructing groups of people or individuals; and compiling and analyzing information to report. My experience also included handling, tracking, or depositing monies; using software programs to maintain fee and stock data; resolving issues that arise in the remittance process and assisting staff with fee issues; and using tools or equipment (e.g., cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions. You must include weekly hours worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE:

For example, 6 months of the specialized experience described in A above (50% of the experience requirement), and 3 years of college study from an accredited institution (75% of the qualifying education) as specified in B above, equals greater than 100% of the total requirement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies, part-time or intermittent. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
