Administrative Officer (Park Chief of Administration/Business Manager)

The Administrative Officer at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks directs a multi-faceted operation, including but not limited to, financial and budgetary management, concessions and commercial services management, information technology and radio communications management, property management, and housing management. The Administrative Officer serves as a key member of the park leadership team and is responsible for providing guidance and leadership on a wide range of budgetary, financial, and administrative functions for the Superintendent, fellow Division Chiefs, and employees of the park. The Administrative Officer is also the primary point of contact for the Regional human resources and procurement offices. To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of specialized experience include providing a wide variety of administrative direction and services to enable efficient operation of an agency/company. This includes working as a member of a leadership team to accomplish agency/company goals; planning, coordinating, and tracking budget/finance for a variety of fund sources and interdisciplinary work groups; and providing position and workforce management analyses and recommendations. Other examples of specialized experience may include overseeing or managing a procurement and property management program; managing an Information Technology program, housing program, concessions management, and agency/company training program. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies, part-time or intermittent.
